Maitreya: A Conversation with Benjamin Creme
Vision Magazine: Who is Maitreya?
Benjamin Creme: Maitreya is the head of a group of enlightened men, men who have come through the whole of the evolutionary cycle on earth and who need no further incarnation here. They nevertheless take incarnations on earth in order to oversee the evolution of the rest of us. He is the master of all of the masters, the head Buddha of that group and the world teacher of this cycle and the next cycle.
VM: What teaching do you think Maitreya can give us about the family?
BC: He is a teacher an educator in the broadest sense, including of course that of the family. I have been in touch with one of the disciples of Maitreya for many years and have received from him a great deal of insight into the role of the family, the general evolution of humanity and of man [and woman]. Rather than tell you what Maitreya has said about the family, I would prefer to answer questions on what the masters as a whole have to say about the family. The family in the point of view of the masters is the fundamental unit of humanity. It is from the family that everything else is derived from. The supremacy of the family as the basic unit of humanity has been going on now for a number of years in various areas of culture and family discourse. The family is the basic unit which provides the best conditions for correct evolution. The Masters see any attempt to limit the role of the family as a basic elemental unit of society to be detrimental to the evolution of our human development.
VM: In what way can people be of service to Maitreya?
BC: Service to Maitreya is really service to humanity. The best service we can give to humanity is to let it be known as widely and as quickly as possible the fact of Maitreya's presence in the world. This is a unique situation. The masters have known for over 500 years that sooner or later they would have to return to the world. They are of this world but not in this world. They are men but more than men. They are men who have evolved to a point where planet earth is no longer an education [for them]; it is simply a field of service for the masters and of course for Maitreya, the master of all the masters.
In June 1935, Maitreya announced his intention to return to the world with a large group of his disciples and take over the reigns as the world teacher for the coming of Aquarius. He has been behind the scenes in the cycle of Pisces, which has now come to an end. He said that he would come when a measure of peace had been established in the world, when the principle of sharing was at least beginning to come into economic thinking and when the energy of goodwill was manifesting [which could] lead to correct human relationships.
In July 1977, Maitreya announced I am coming whether they (humanity) are ready or not and he descended from his mountain which is in the Himalayas He has been in the Himalayas for thousands and thousands of years. There is a large group of masters in that region and in various mountains all over the world.
VM: What effect do you think war has on humanity?
BC: It has a terrible effect. It destroys the very nature of humanity because it fills us with fear. The law of karma was the law of cause and effect. Every action we take sends into motion causes. In making our lives we are so destructive all over the world. And we wonder why we have extraordinary destruction all over the world; these hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, plagues and so on. The elements have gone out of their equilibrium. When we make war we destroy the equilibrium of the planet and we need to solve this problem. Too many (people) are carried away by the concept of competition for market forces. And then we create inequality in our world with unbelievable wealth and then have millions of people starving to death. If we make the right decisions and this energy of what we call the Christ principle, this energy of love, on what's called the day of declaration, Maitreya will telepathically communicate to every human being over the age of twenty and everyone will hear him in their own mind or language. Maitreya has the ability to communicate telepathically from any distance. And the response of this extraordinary happening, will be this energy of love throughout the world to make the choice for sharing, for justice, for right relationship and for the creation of a new world; a better world for all of us.
VM: Is this the work of Share International?
