Ask the LifeQuake™ Doctor Dr. Toni GalardiDear Dr. Toni:
I have spent thirteen years and over a quarter of a million dollars learning about health and wellness, disease prevention and psycho neuro-immunology. Yet I’m afraid to launch my health and wellness seminar business that I dream of. It’s based on a very specific topic that I believe in and I am very excited about sharing it with people. However, I just seem to tread water on getting it up and running. I can’t find a location for the talks and I haven’t secured a website designer. I also have ten business and domain names written down on paper, but I haven’t been able to pick one out. I meditate, pray and visualize on why I am stuck. All I can come up with is that I tend to focus on my sick, elderly parents, my brother’s family, and my boyfriend. I let getting in shape and getting my business up and running slip as priorities—when being fit and healthy and following my life’s calling are my constant longings. It seems like they are all too needy and I help them out on a daily basis. My co-dependency tapes are worn thin from use and they haven’t helped me. What should I do? — Signed, MAD!

Dear MAD:
As you have signed this letter “MAD,” I’m assuming you are more than just frustrated. The key here is how to use that anger to get you moving. I would suggest beginning with 20 minutes—and no more than 20 minutes—of vigorous walking every day. Secondly, stop meditating on what you’re not doing! Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle. On the left side, list all the messages you received as a child, both directly and indirectly, about being selfish (i.e. “for the self”). Also on the left side, list the messages you received about success and what you would lose if you were successful. Now take each one and say it aloud. As you speak, where in your body do the words register? For the last step, imagine a golden light descending through the top of your head. One by one, breathe this light into each place you are holding that particular belief in your body until you feel a change in sensation or feeling.
Now return to your list. On the right hand side of the paper, describe your life and yourself as if you were expressing your fullest potential. How does that feel in your body? As you place your hand over your heart, speak aloud the words that represent your full potential. People who focus their attention on the needs of others when they have a clear idea of their calling are typically afraid of power. They are also still holding on to the beliefs they carry from childhood as to what they will lose if they are powerful. For instance, women often believe they will end up alone if they go for their dreams. The body houses these subconsciously sabotaging mechanisms so we must transmute them energetically and get them out of our way!
Good luck, MAD. Give yourself the best Christmas present possible, the expression of your full potential self.

Dear Dr. Toni:
My Name is Joe. I’ve been stuck in a pattern of not having a long-term relationship with a woman for the last eighteen years. I’m unable to start a relationship that leads to marriage. It always seems to float away. I’m yearning to fall in love where I feel connected. It’s a hunger that won’t go away and I’m frustrated day after day. I want to be loved, give love and feel whole. —Sincerely, Joe

Dear Joe:
You know, love is one of those inimitable things. When you chase it, it runs away. I know that sounds cliché, but it’s true. I would suggest not making a long-term relationship your primary objective. Feeling whole does not necessarily come from being loved or even giving love. Perhaps the hunger you are feeling for a relationship with someone else can best be found by getting very quiet. Place your hands over your heart, turn within, and breathe with your focus on your hands. As they get warmer, think about all the times you’ve used those hands to extend love to others. Then direct that love through your hands into your heart. I promise you, Joe, your soul will get fed. At first, there may be resistance from your ego, which is dedicated to keeping you restless and feeling empty. However, if you light a candle and spend twenty minutes a day focusing on that light while you rest into your body, eventually what you will experience is yourself as love. That vibration will draw it to you.

Happy Holidays to all my readers. Give yourself a great gift this season. Extend peace to your fellow travelers as you move across our Mother Earth!
