Visionary Recording Artist and Pioneering Sound Healer celebrates his 33rd Anniversary
When I recorded my first album in 1975, I had to start my own independent record label because no major label was interested in music that didn’t have words or a big beat. Little did I know that this landmark meditative and healing album, Spectrum Suite (now Chakra Suite), would launch a “quiet revolution” in contemporary music.
My calling is to make a difference in the world; to contribute to peace within ourselves and on the planet. I’ve been honored and blessed to be able to compose music that touches the heart and soul of millions of people. As my friend John Bradshaw says, this is music of ‘be-ing” rather than “do-ing.” It helps you to get into that gap “between thoughts,” and to tune in to the quantum field of universal consciousness.
As the field of sound healing has entered both mainstream consciousness and the alternative/integrative health field, I thought it might be fun to give out gifts, rather than receive them, on this the 33rd birthday of my Inner Peace Music label.
I got turned on to the power of music at an early age, as a jazz-rock musician playing trumpet and guitar. A life-changing meditation under majestic redwoods opened me up to tune in to “the space between the notes.” If you, too, have been searching for things that help you feel better, reduce stress, and nurture your spiritual well-being, while also being effective, enjoyable and legal, healing music is just what the doctor ordered.
Every time I perform on the Peninsula, someone invariably comes up and asks me to sign their collector’s item LP or cassette.
